Frequently Asked Questions

Parents may register their children for our programs by the following ways:

  • Online through our Registration system. Payment by credit card. Credit cards will not be charged until approximately 2 weeks prior to the camp start date.
      • 24 hours
      • Payment by credit card

Covid-19 Update: Drop-off and pick-up not applicable for the 2021 summer session.

For a weekly early drop-off fee, parents may drop off their child between 8:00 – 9:00am prior to the beginning of the morning sessions.  Only children signed up for a morning session are eligible for the optional early drop-off option. Children will be supervised by camp staff during this time with play-based activities.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer late pick-up due to time constraints at the Oval. For morning session participants, parents will need to pick-up their children at 12:00pm.  For afternoon participants, parents will need to pick-up their children at 3:30pm.  Late fees may be applicable so please pickup your child on time.

During registration, credit cards will not be charged until approximately 2 weeks prior to camp start dates. Credit cards will NOT be charged for any camp cancellations initiated by Brightspace, due to low enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances.

Camp withdrawal and refund requests must be submitted via email at info@brightspacelearning.ca. One of our staff will contact you by phone or by email. Refunds will be issued back to the original form of payment. Our withdrawal/refund policy is as follows:

        • More than 30 days before your first day of camp: a $20 cancellation fee will be charged to your credit card on file.

        • 14-29 days before your first day of camp: a $30 cancellation fee will be charged to your credit card on file.

        • Up to 14 days before your first day of camp: No refund. FULL camp fee will be charged to your credit card on file. Credit for future camps will be provided less a $30 cancellation fee.

Alternatively, you may wish to transfer to one of our other camps at a different time as long as space is available.

If our programs are unable to run due to low enrollment, we will notify enrolled families of cancellation by email or phone.  Camps will be confirmed to run approximately 2-weeks prior to its start date.  A confirmation email will be sent to enrolled families.

In the event that we must cancel a camp due to low enrollment, you will receive a 100% refund on your camp fee.  Alternatively, you may choose to register your child for one of our other camps.

First and foremost, our day camps are taught by BC certified teachers who are passionate and experienced in the interest areas of their camp programs. They have designed their camp programs through their own experiences, training, and interests to bring fun and hands-on learning to our day campers.

Though are camp programs are meant to be fun, they are geared for children and parents who want more than just a play-based experience or child-minding service. Children will be engaged in activities, projects, and lessons specifically in areas of their interest. Our teachers intend to build in an active component into their programs so that our campers are not “stuck” in a classroom each class.

For the summer of 2020, our camp programs will run from July 5 to August 27, 2021.  Program lengths and times will vary depending on the program. We have both morning and afternoon programs available.

Covid-19 Update: As we will be focusing on our Brightspace Online programs only for the summer of 2021, we will not have a dedicated office space available. Please contact us by phone or email if you have any questions.

Each camp may have specific items or equipment that your child will need to bring with them to camp each day. These will be described under each camp’s description. Please ensure your child brings these items daily. Materials not described will be provided by our camp program.

In general, your child should be dressed appropriately for our summer indoor and outdoor weather. Note that some camps will include outdoor activities. Campers may wish to bring:

      • Comfortable clothing and footwear (weather appropriate)
      • knapsack/person bag
      • sunscreen and hat (for outdoor programs)
      • water bottle
      • personal snack (nut free)
      • packed lunch (for full day campers not participating in our Lunch Box Program)

No, our camp programs WILL NOT run on Monday, August 2, 2021 (BC DAY).  The shorter weeks will be reflected in the camps fees in those weeks containing holiday dates.

Every special needs child has a different set of needs and may require specific supports. As we are not a Ministry funded program, we do not have extra resources available to hire trained educational assistants or support workers. That said, depending on the needs of your child, we may be able to support your child within the resources and staffing that we have available. Please contact us directly if you would like to consult with us about your child’s needs before registering for one of our programs.

Yes, we recognize that many children have severe nuts allergies. We ask all parents to refrain from packing nut products to camp so that we can maintain a safe nut-free camp for all participants.

Yes, many of our staff have recent training in First Aid and CPR. We will have a designated first aid staff member on site in case of minor injuries. 911 will be called for more serious emergencies.

COVID-19 Update

At Brightspace Learning, the health and safety of our participants, families, and staff are of utmost importance to us. We pride ourselves in creating a safe learning environment in every way possible. Understandably, many parents are naturally concerned about the COVID-19 pandemic and its potential impacts on summer camp programs.

Due to changing government regulations and safety protocols, as well as minimal interest in online programs, we have decided to close registration to our programs for the summer of 2021. As we all look forward to an end to the covid-19, we hope for the opportunity to work with your children in face-to-face environments in the near future. In the meantime, we hope you have a safe and fun summer!

Credit cards will not be charged until approximately 2 weeks prior to camp start dates, at which time, full camp fees will be charged. For any camps that are cancelled by Brightspace due to low enrollment or otherwise, credit cards will not be charged.

Parents will be advised a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the scheduled start of a camp program of any camp cancellations.

We encourage all interested families to register early to take advantage of our Early Bird discount and secure spots in desired camps.
